What to Expect

Your First Flight.
Unforgettable.

A Discovery Flight is a 60-minute introductory flight designed to give you a real taste of what it means to be a pilot. You'll take the controls, experience the Oklahoma skies, and fly alongside one of our Cirrus-certified instructors the entire time.

About 60 minutes total — including a pre-flight walkthrough of the aircraft, the flight itself, and a debrief with your instructor.
You'll actually fly the plane — your instructor will hand you the controls once you're in the air. This isn't a sightseeing ride.
The safest aircraft in its class — every Cirrus SR20 is equipped with CAPS, an airframe parachute system. You fly in the world's safest single-engine aircraft.

Do I need any experience to do a Discovery Flight?
None at all. A Discovery Flight is specifically designed for people with zero aviation background. Your instructor handles everything that needs handling — you just enjoy the experience and take the controls when you're ready.
How long does it take?
Plan for about 60 minutes total. This includes the pre-flight walkthrough, the flight itself, and a short debrief after landing.
Where does the flight take place?
All Discovery Flights depart from Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport (KGOK), located at 520 Airport Rd · Hangar 2 · Guthrie, OK 73044 — about 30 minutes north of Oklahoma City.
Is it safe? What if something goes wrong?
Every Cirrus SR20 we fly is equipped with CAPS — the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. In an emergency, a full-aircraft parachute deploys and lowers the entire plane safely to the ground. The SR20 is the world's best-selling single-engine aircraft and the safest in its class. Plus, your CFI has full control of the aircraft at all times.
What should I wear or bring?
Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Bring a valid photo ID. That's it. We handle everything else — the aircraft, fuel, headsets, and instruction are all included.
Will I actually get to fly the plane?
Yes — that's the whole point. Your instructor will hand you the controls once you're in the air and walk you through basic maneuvers. This isn't a sightseeing ride; it's a real introduction to flying.
Can a Discovery Flight count toward my pilot's license?
Yes. Flight time logged during your Discovery Flight can be applied toward your Private Pilot Certificate. If you decide to continue training with AirNoss, your instructor will log the flight time in your logbook that day.
What if the weather is bad on my booking date?
Aviation weather is always a factor. If conditions aren't safe to fly, we'll reach out to reschedule at no penalty. Safety always comes first — we never fly in questionable conditions with student pilots.
